More Bad News For Anti-War Democrats

Since the MSLM is so GREAT at giving us the bad news, I have more to throw onto the festering discusting heap by Al-Reuters (hat tip: Drudge): Army Reaches Recruiting Goals Again.

There you have it. Doesn't that make you MSLM types want to cut and run?

You know, you media wonks work so hard to re-engineer our society with the latest photo enhancing techniques, the most effective use of rhetoric, and the hours--the hours of non-stop teeth clenching repetition to alter the thought processes of a gullible public, and look how they respond to you! Ungrateful wretches! The only answer to this is federal control of radio and the internet.

No doubt this is evidence of the power of George W. Bush.

Why would the Army meeting its recruiting goals be bad news for Anti-War Democrats?

Army recruiting and the illegal and immoral invasion of Iraq have nothing to do with each other. Some of us would like to once again see a strong military and would love to see the U.S. get back on track in the "War on Terror" so that we don't have top rely on the British to proctect os from terrorism. $hrubco's diversion of resource to his oil war has made us vulnerbale to attack on a broad array of fronts.

Why on earth would you want federal control of radio and internet?

If the media ia all evil why do you cite it as a source????

Did they give you pain killers while you were in the hospital?

Are totally mental? What does recruiting goals have to do with the illegal war? Am I supposed to be impressed that cuz people still want to sign up to the military that makes all the dead bodies piled up alright?

Utter madness.

Cranky! I'm glad you're on board. In response to your questions:

1. Why meeting recruiting goals are bad for Anti-War Democrats...think about it. Iraq war--bad. Fighting in Iraq War as an American--bad. Joining up to go fight in Iraq War--bad. Joining military even though MSM worked so hard to show how Iraq War is bad--frustratingly bad.

2. We are not so much off track that we need the Brits have to cover for us. This is an international problem. The Brits can find bad guys too, especially in their own country. Or would you suggest we find Britain's bad guys without their help.
3. I DON'T want oppressive federal controls on radio or the internet. I'm being sarcastic.
4. All media is evil? No. Evil is as evil does. It depends on if the bias alters reality or interprets it as a deception, whether pro-war or anti-war. If CNN were to say, "Here at CNN, we give you anti-war interpretation of the facts," I wouldn't have a problem with that. They have given me what I need to make a right judgement. It's when deception occurs that rankles me, such as an interpretation is given rather than the facts but done in a manner as factual. Media needs to tell it straight, just the facts. They should keep out of the social engineering business.

As to why I use media, I have no other option. Since we don't live in a perfect world, I use what we have, but refer to several different news sources including the liberal ones and check for fallacies, or contradictions.

Let's face it. If an extreme right wing news organization is elated that Israel is on the offensive, I would not share their glee. I would need to know why Israel is on the offensive. Even if it is a just response, such as in the case now of routing Hezbollah, innocent people will die, which breaks my heart.

6. Bear with me if my writing seems incoherent; it's because I am on pain-killers now (Fentanyl and Oxycodone).

Nap time.

I don't think you can say people are "joining up to go fight in Iraq." They are joinging to get a paycheck and to serve their country, most won't ever see combat. Meeting recruiting goals is not approval of the war. Many are joing ing in spite of it because as things get worse good men are going to be needed.

Why didn't you mention the National Guard and Reserve *missing thier goals? They constitute the largest component of the Military. By your logic this should be cause for left wing rejoice, although I don't see it that way.

You are probably right. However, if you recall, last summer the MSM kept reporting how the recruiting figures were down in an effort to show the public's dissatisfaction with George Bush's War in Iraq. There were pols who predicted that the military would have difficulty maintaining their recruitment numbers and there was talk of the draft--all because of this unpopular war. Here's an the article from the Chicago Tribune in April of last year: Army Still Misses Recruiting Goals.

This post is my attempt at parody. I think if the "analysts" are to be consistent, they would have to come up with an interpretation that shows the public now in favor of the War in Iraq. I have no problem with your analysis and my intent was not to be exhaustive.

So much for my attempt at parody.

I object, Assumption as to motive, your honor.

While some opinion columnists made this assertion. I can not accept that the motivation for the general reporting of recruiting expectations not being met was to cast public approval as its cause. All reporting the reflects negatively on $hrubco is not part of a plot to weaken it.

In general if the press is so left wing as you insist, why did they go after Clinton with such voracity? Honestly I would love the press to go after all poiticians the way they went after Clinton.

It's sadly amusing to see UL's heading "More Bad News for Anti-War Dems."

A majority of Americans are ANTI IRAQ WAR. A MAJORITY. That includes conservatives, liberals and independents.

Bush hasn't been able to poll in the low 50s since the 2004 elections. He will have the dubious honor of being in negative approval numbers longer than any other second-term president since post WWII.

And Cheney's numbers are so dismal that he's irrelevant. No one pays attention to his idiotic statements anymore. With 80% of the American public DISAPPROVING of him (only the Republican majority Congress is polling lower), he's become a pathetic joke.

But somehow all those negatives for the Republicans in power translate into bad news for the Dems?

Whew!

And the conservatives call the liberals loonies?

I think the humane thing to do for people who interpret miserable numbers for Repubs as "bad news" for Dems is to calmly nod our heads and say "Yes, that's nice dear." Remove all sharp objects from the immediate vicinity, and quietly tip-toe out of the room.

They were all dead end bullshit stories except maybe Lewinsky, but the press focused on the sleaze rather than the perjury.

OK... How are the going after $hrubco that you consider wrong?

I bet you didn't know that the Gore received more negative press in the 2000 election that did $hrub.

Show me, don't tell me. You want me to take your word for it. You want me to accept your statement that the press was voraciously after Clinton and all you can do is tell me that they were bullshit stories.

Oh, and Bush stole the election was positive?

No more feeding the trolls, UL.

At 5:50 PM, Blogger Cranky Yankee said...

The press allowed $hrubco to steal that election by dropping the story after the SC declare him winner. The only reporter that dug for the truth was Greg Palast of the BBC and he found it. He offered the story to CBS so the American people copuld learn the truth. CBS took a denial by Jeb Bush as a valid refutation and didn't run it.

Also, If you think anything Clinton did true or not ever rose to the level of the crimes $hrubco is accused I question your judgement.

The so called Liberal Media played right along with the drive to the illegal and immoral war against the people of Iraq. The New York Times was the worst of them and they are supposed to be the linchpin of the SCLM. Iraq is literally the 2nd crime of the century in the US.

You don't make any sense. The press has a job to go after ALL politicians with voracity. It is a cornerstone of our political system. If you don't accept that then you don't accept the U.S. Constitution and should go find a country where the Press is muzzled.

I'm afraid the war is nearly meaningless to most of the voters, it has become nearly a given, not news anymore, which is sad. I believe the biggest issue in the country is the invasion from the south, where the hell is homeland security? Anyone who wanted to win office could go out and be opposed to ammnesty or the senate approach to deal with those who break the law of the land, sneak into the greatest country on the planet and suck dry the resources, taking them from those of us who obey the law and pay the frigging outrageous taxes and fund all the things they take advantage of here. I think that will be #1 on the voters minds unless they stop coverage of it in the press, which they have already started.

Really? And on what do you base that? Here are some facts that dispute that claim:

The US is the greatest country in the world.

TRUTH:
Wrong. I'll only cite the statistics here.

USA Ranking on Adult Literacy Scale: #9
(#1 Sweden and #2 Norway)- OECD

USA Ranking on Healthcare Quality Index: #37
(#1 France and #2 Italy)- World Health Organization 2003

USA Ranking of Student Reading Ability: #12
(#1 Finland and #2 South Korea)- OECD PISA 2003

USA Ranking of Student Problem Solving Ability: #26
(#1 South Korea and #2 Finland)- OECD PISA 2003

USA Ranking on Student Mathematics Ability: # 24
(#1 Hong Kong and #2 Finland)- OECD PISA 2003

USA Ranking of Student Science Ability: #19
(#1 Finland and #2 Japan)- OECD PISA 2003

USA Ranking on Women's Rights Scale: #17
(#1 Sweden and #2 Norway)- World Economic Forum Report

USA Position on Timeline of Gay Rights Progress: # 6 (1997)
(#1 Sweden 1987 and #2 Norway 1993)- Vexen

USA Ranking on Life Expectancy: #29

USA Ranking on Environmental Sustainability Index: #45
(#1 Finland and #2 Norway)- Yale University ESI 2005

USA Ranking on Overall Currency Strength: #3 (US Dollar)
(#1 UK pound sterling and #2 European Union euro)- FTSE 2006....the dollar is now a liability, so many banks worldwide have planned to switch to euro

USA Ranking on Infant Mortality Rate: #32
(#1 Sweden and #2 Finland)- Save the Children Report 2006

USA Ranking on Human Development Index (GDP, education, etc.): #10
(#1 Norway and #2 Iceland)- UN Human Development Report 2005

So much for those "socialist" Europeans and those "backward" Asians, hm?
We can do better than this.

Miscellany:
*Only 18% of Americans own passports and bother to travel outside of the US.
* 85% of US soldiers in Iraq believe that they are there to get revenge for 9/11.
* New international student enrollment in US grad schools has decreased by 6%, because of xenophobic post-9/11 US visa restrictions, jacked-up tuition fees and better educational opportunities in the EU and Asia. So no, not everyone wants to come here anymore, because it's become a land of incredibly limited opportunity, and we've lowered our educational standards.

Thank you to the "America Sucks" contingency. Now all we need to hear from are the autoracist whites who think the white European (American) is the bottom feeders of the human race. Dear UL,

Attack the messenger as you wish, but those are the facts. We are lagging behind in very cricial areas, and have no right to bang our chests and say "We're #1!" if it is not correct.

Grow up. We need to improve.

We still have the best Constitution the world has ever produced. That is what makes us great--especially when we honor it and fulfull its promise. When we trash it, we suck.

Yes, as to being a part of suckers, Shaw leaves us no alternative but to say America sucks. Undoubtedly, she refers to situations like the NSA international wiretaps to which the ACLU has through ardent judge shopping, found a Carter appointee to "condemn" the practice.

I would love to see just how the libs would fight terrorism. Did you see the pathetic attempt by Kucinich to describe his way to fight terror on "The Factor?" Egad! I think Israel would be safer!

Shaw,
What do I base this on???? I base this on the hoards of folks who risk life and limb to participate in the lifestyle we have. Thats what. If would be foolish to think otherwise. When people start risking their life, numbering in the millions to get to any other country in the world then look me up. I base my suck dry thoughts on the closing of hospitals and emergency rooms. Not a nationwide epidemic true, it only seems to happen where the invaders choose to stop and start sucking. Its a no brainer really. And you and I have no quarrel about the shitty state of government education, no quarrel what so ever. All the other stats mean absolutely nothing to me. What country offers the most free choice along with the highest chance of success? What country has gives away the most money? What country depends the most on personal resposibility? And again when they flood any of the Euroean countries with people that are willing to chance death to live there then please show that stat.
Thanks for your time.

Also, please go to every blog you can find and post those educational stats, they don't believe me when I tell them. If you can please find a stat on non-government school performance. I know the one my kids attend scores 27% higher than the national average in the US.
